Roland VG-99 V-Guitar System

Guitar and synth modelling

Works fine. Guitar-to-MIDI triggers MPC Live. Stereo audio works. Sampling from USB audio works. No clicks so far.

VG-99 USB driver mode is "advanced". I was expecting to need it set it to "standard".

Roland usually make you use their drivers, so pleasant surprise to have class compliant working.

Presonus 1824c not working.

Error: Specified configuration may not be supported by the device
Code: -5

Sample rate of 1824c is confirmed to be 44.1 kHz. May be unplugged and when reconnected to PC still says 44.1 kHz.

Boo.... I thought this one was going to work. Hopefully the 2.11 update will increase class compliant device compatibility....

Hi there have you tested it yourself? I emailed Teenage and they said:

"hi Charlie,

thank you for contacting us!

the TX–6 is a 32-bit / 48kHz usb interface: it can be set to operate at 24 bit/ 44.1khz through the host that is used to record (like your daw).

please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions, we would be happy to help. we remain at your entire disposal and wish you a nice day!

kindly,
teenage engineering support"

This was initially giving a little bit of hope, but if you can't get it to work then too bad. Can you test it in software mode?

Thanks.

Just having a scan through this thread and came across a comment about the Zoom R16 auto switching from 96kHz to 44.1 once the mpc has detected it.

"Powered by USB, the Zoom will start up in 96khz mode, but as soon as you select it as the audio interface on the MPC, it’ll change to 44.1."

I wonder if this may be the case for the TX-6?

The new Rode Caster Pro 2 will NOT work with the MPC because it’s 48kHz sample rate:

But…. I was checking it out because…

Its offers 2 USB interfaces in one unit. If it offered a 44kHz sample rate that would be a game changer.

USB Interface 1
1 x 2-in/16-out multichannel device, 1 x 2-in/2-out with mix-minus
USB Interface 2
1 x 2-in/2-out with mix-minus

I picked up a Zoom R20 Multitrack and tried the USB-C w MPC Live..

I was hoping that I could digitally route (and/or sample in) from the unit but it didn't work. However the MPC Live does recognize the unit by name in the audio driver menu. When in "USB multi-mode" on the Zoom, I am able to monitor MPC outs 1 & 2 through the zoom with no audio cables attached... but I am not able to record to the R20 when in USB mode.. because it is apparently acting as a DAW controller.

I like the basic editing features on the R20's touch screen. I was hoping I could sample sections out of the MPC and trim the start/end points them in the R20, then copy, paste.. works pretty well, but would be even nicer if I could use MIDI-sync.. then layering regions as a sort of DAW-less arranger mode..

Another Update:
Unfortunately the issue again happened during a live performance and almost crashed my eardrums, the speakers, and the crowds happiness, my reputation and with this any possibility to be booked again in this location (ok, that was a little bit sarcastic, but I'm really upset). It wouldn't be that dramatic if this really extremely loud white noise wouldn't happen. Then a restart and a "Sorry...technology" would do it. Bit this noise is the absolutely worst case. So I definitively consider the Behringer UMC404HD as not compatible with the MPC ONE in Standalone Mode. I now will get back to the old system and play with a seperate mixer for the monitor mixes and vocal effects. By the way: It happened also with the Focusrite 6i6 2nd Gen.

Matt Gallister wrote:Update: I set up the samplerate to 1024 with the PC. Now it seems to work with a little bit more latency (says our singer) but still ok. It ran smooth during our app. 3 hours of practice and jamming yesterday. So hopefully this fixed the issue.

Matt Gallister wrote:I tried a Behringer UMC404HD for playing back up to 6 Audiotracks plus one for Live-Vocals with FX. Sending one Mix to the PA (outs 1+2) and a seperate monitor mix to outs 3+4 for the in ear monitoring of our singer. Unfortunately this setup seemed to work initially, but then crashed the MPC randomly in different projects (about every 30 Minutes) and generates an extremely loud white noise on all outputs until you disconnect the interface from MPC. This is really the worst case for an Liveact as it could crash your speakers and eardrums. Anyhow, it never happens in internal audio mode (of course outs 3+4 are not existing physically but still available virtually in the project). So it seems that i have to look for another interface unfortunately or buy the Live or X... :-/ I'm open to ideas. ;-)

Thanks everybody for contributing.

Someone on the sequencer.de forum pointed me to this thread.
As I was lazy today and had no other things to do, I created a spreadsheet with (most, maybe all) so far mentioned interfaces. Please find the CSV export of the file below.

The list is in chronological order.
Items on the bottom are more recent than those at the top.
Neither did I remove duplicates nor did I correct upper or lower case (in some cases I did where my inner Monk told me so)
As the list is short enough to browse through you may have to invest a little bit more time to find what you are looking for.
Remarks were edited (simplified) by me.

Feel free to use this as a start for a mantainted list.
If that list already exists, you might as well remove my post.

Have fun!

Pleasantly surprised to discover that the Hotone Ampero II (amp/effects modeller) works as an interface - at least to the extent of being recognised and configurable (8in, 8out though only two hardware ins plus an effects loop in/out, so 4 in physically). I've not stress-tested it yet, but as well as recording guitar (or whatever - but it means you can simultaneously record a wet guitar on 1/2 and dry on 7/8) it should be possible to route audio from the MPC into the unit, effect it, and send it back for resampling or playback.

I mean, 2.11 will be giving us amp effects as well, but it's another option I guess.

Audiophile 8 In/8 Out ADAT Audio Interface with Midas Mic Preamplifiers
It has NO USB PORTS on it, so it shouldn't be on the list anyway.

It's an ADAT audio interface.

:WTF:
