Hello MPC forum community,

I’ve had my MPC One since February 2020. Since I have not been able to update the unit. I’ve watched many YouTube videos, skimmed the forum, & tried to troubleshoot it on my own. My issue is when I try to update with the .img file I’ll put the unit into update mode. It will read the update. Try to update and give me a message saying “There was a problem with the update file. Please check file and try again”. I’m just dragging the file onto my usb drive that’s empty and formatted from my desktop. I always eject it first as well. This does this same thing with every updates .img file.

With the win updater when I have it plugged into the USB port of the pc and plugged into the wall power supply I get a message to connect my power supply to the unit.

If you have any advice or more troubleshooting please feel free to add to the thread. I would greatly appreciate your help.

I've not had to contact Akai support myself, but from the posts I've seen here and on other sites, they do seem to be very slow in responding via email, if at all. People seem to have more luck phoning them.

I called Akai tech support yesterday and they didn’t have a solid answer for me. For one my mpc is out of warranty. Two, they think it could be the power supply, so their sending me a new power supply cable. I highly doubt that’s the issue. I asked could it be because I have one of the first models shipped, they said no. They said either update should work. But it’s not at all.

I’m surprised the phone tech didn’t give you guys the flash image file to reset your mpc to factory condition.

Yeah I’m trying all the older firmware. 2.7.2 & 2.8 etc. naw they didn’t send me anything to factory reset. You think I could reset it on my own in the mpc?

Having the same problem. Tried with a Mac, PC updater software and USB stick. Same errors. Complains about needing to be plugged into the power (it is because it doesn't run on batteries or USB power) or complains about the file. I even put the IMG file on a 4GB partitioned stick. Nothing.

So I'm not exactly sure what your referring to with the MD5 talk.
I feel like when I download the file its fine but then gets corrupted when I try to load it into my mpc.

Download a utility that calculates the checksum of a file and make sure it's the same result
This way you can exclude the possibility that the file is corrupted
Hope it makes sense now :)
