Odd beats Track length Song mode to sequence conversion.

I've never really played with track length creatively but lately i've been discovering how cool using odd beats is for fills drops and halftime. The thing I cant figure is how to convert it properly when converting a song to sequence. If I have a track that's 4 bars but I set it to 3,5,7 etc etc... beats, in song Convert>SEQ it just converts the whole seq length. Is it a workaround for that behaviour? Should I route the odd beat midi track to another track and just re-record it?

I couldn't find an answer to my dilemma so I just used a midi cable to route the midi back in and record to another track. As a happy accident I realized I can change the track length in real time during recording and record variations and improvisations. I know this is nothing new, but man I cant believe Ive been sleeping on playing with the track length all this time. I can even modify the modified track on and on and on. Makes adding spice to drums easy as pie wow!

Can you explain how you did the work around bro. I ran into the same issue in song mode...

remember you can send midi data from one track to another instead of using an actual midi cable.

I was aware of the track to track send but what I was forgetting was the multi track arm. I couldn't change settings on the track I was tweaking while recording to another because I had "track arm" on single. With multi arm and track send there is indeed no need for an external cable.

I missed this so just in case you haven't figured it out already. You duplicate sequence, route your adjusted seq length track to another and record. Then it will record your off-time loop linearly and that sequence will then play/loop in song mode the way its heard when you are in sequence mode.

It's the same process for doing real time manipulation but you need to have rec arm set to multi in the hardware menu settings.

Uh oh may have scratch that for misinformation I just remembered why I had to use a midi cable. For whatever reason seems like you can route to another track and the midi is seen but it doesn't actually record the midi. It only records pad input and external midi input. Track settings for record input seem to change nothing unless there is something else I am missing.
