MPC ONE not recognizing Tascam Model 12 as audio device

Just getting back into the MPC game and the multitrack audio interface controls from the 2.10 update are one of the things that got me motivated. Went with the Tascam Model 12 mixer because I've seen multiple videos of this combo doing the types of things I wanted to do.

Got the MPC ONE and Tascam Model 12 hooked up with USB but the Tascam doesn't show up under audio devices. Switches are all set to USB/PC on the Tascam. Using Chroma USB B to USB C cable. Firmware updated to the latest on both. Tried setting the Tascam to controller mode and went through every controller preset. Every video I've seen looks like you just plug in the cable and the audio interface name automatically shows up under audio devices. Mine will only show "internal". Any idea what the problem might be?

Solved by using the Tascam USB-C to USB-A cable and standard USB port on the MPC. Should the USB-B port be used just for midi controllers?

No, it's for connecting your mpc to a computer, i.e. controller mode, data transfer

That's what I thought but why wouldn't the USB-B port work for using the Model 12 as a audio device?

Because thats the way it was designed and they were pretty much following the industry standard? Do you plug audio interfaces into USB-B ports on your computer? Does your computer even have USB-B ports? Nope. Its almost always used for the receiving device at the end, its never on the host device.

My last MPC just had SCSI connections so I guess I may be a bit behind the times lol.

Loving this setup so far though. Is it possible to record external synths as audio tracks through USB while simultaneously controlling them by MPC midi tracks?

Recording midi controlled synth audio track through USB while sequence plays works great. Really like the arpeggiator on the MPC.
