Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I did my research and couldn't find an answer to my problem. So here I am starting a new thread. I hope it's OK.
So I have the MPC One and when I record audio into an audio track, the audio recording is always a bit late compared to other tracks. It's very obvious when recording percussive sounds. Let's say I have a snare drum playing in an MPC drum program and I record a snare coming from an external sound module triggered via midi by the very same notes. I can very distinctly hear that the snare sound recorded from the external sound module is late and all I can do to fix it is to manually drag the audio track a little bit to the left. I can also see the lag in the wave form drawn by the MPC, which is shifted a little bit to the right of where it should be. I know it's not midi latency because if I record through an external midi interface, I can use its hardware monitoring feature and the sounds coming into it are perfectly in sync with the MPC. Still, when I listen to the recording, it's late. Not surprisingly the lag can also be heard when monitoring the incoming signal with the MPC, whether in an audio track or in the sampler.
I've had this issue since I got the MPC about a year ago, so that was version 2.8 of the firmware. Subsequent updates didn't solve this issue but the ability to use an external sound card that came with 2.10 allowed me to identify the issue more precisely thanks to hardware monitoring.
I'm wondering if I'm the only one having this issue because I never found anyone talking about it. On the other hand, if you record a guitar or synth pads, the issue can easily go unnoticed. This is generally the type of sounds people record when demonstrating the audio recording features of the MPC in videos, so maybe we all have it but most people don't notice it.
As far as I understand, latency in a digital audio recording system is expected and understandable, but some DAWs offer a latency compensation system. However I couldn't find a way to do this with the MPC.
