I seem to be having the same problem trying to auto sample from a Roland D-10.

Initially I had midi cabling Out from Roland to In on MPC One, and a cable from Out of MPC One to Roland. Unfortunately this caused notes from keyboard to get added stuff playing in the Roland, a percussive instrument added at the start of each key. I finally unhooked the out from Roland and it stopped the percussive note getting added to everything.

Prior to unhooking the out from Roland, I got all kinds of complete autosamples, with a different percussive item for each octave in a different tone added to each sample.

After unhooking the out from Roland, and start auto sample, I get about the first half a dozen or so notes, then all the rest are silent. I have tried with several instruments, trying to range from C0 to C7, and I just get some of the notes down in C0, the rest empty.
