MPC ONE no count in with midi attached

Hi all,
My MPC ONE has no count in with any midi device attached to the OUT MIDI DIN port.
Just starts with no count in at all.
I don't believe it's a hardware or software issue must likely just some setting that needs to be configured.
Appreciate all your help.

I don't think that it is a MPC problem
the count in works with the digitakt or live ableton for exemple, but don't with the polybrute

Count in works only if the MPC is the master clock.
Did you try to make the attached gear a midi slave?

So I have a Roland MX-1 audio interface/mixer and would like to press play on the MX-1 and have the MPC ONE follow.

I have the MX-1 MIDI OUT port going to the MIDI IN on the MPC ONE.
In the MPC ONE MIDI/SYNC page under SYNC RECEIVE I have it set to receive MIDI CLOCK.
In this configuration the count in doesn't work, just starts immediately.
In the MIDI/SYNC page under SYNC RECEIVE, if I set to anything other than MIDI CLOCK the count in works i.e. OFF, Ableton Link etc.,
If I disconnect the MIDI IN to the MPC ONE the count in works fine also

I have other devices connected to the MX-1 and need it to start in sync with the MPC ONE but I'm unable to do the without the Count In.

Any Ideas
