on the default preset, the volume comes in at -20db. it leaves a lot of 'play' in the fader vs the actual volume level. right now i'm using channel strip to boost the signal - is this the best way to go about doing it? i've looked all thru the synth and i cant seem to find a way to boost the volume - boosting amp gain opens up the vca and starts a drone.

Just increase the VCA amp mod, there is absolutely zero problem here, only you needing to get familiar with the Odyssey's architecture.

But in general, the more headroom the better a mix will be, contrary to the popular beliefs on the interwebs...

thanks for the advice! and yeah i definitely have been learning the whole headroom deal. i appreciate the insight on VCA mod though, not sure how i overlooked that haha :D i cant quite put my finger on it but odyssey sounds very nice for simple type of patches. its a great synth.
