I used to have an MPC x and I've read the entire Bible, I sold it because it's just too big for my studio.

I bought a live 2, used, and there seems to be a phantom quarter note high hat coming from the loaded project. I'm just curious where the noise is coming from.

I don't even see anything in the MIDI track. I feel like i should at least be able to see it there?

I thought I was good enough with the software to figure it out, but maybe not.

It sounds like your metronome is set to sound on playback as well as record. The metronome sound can be changed to a handful of alternative sounds apart from the regular click; maybe tambourine in your case? Anyway, I would look at your metronome settings.

**EDIT**

@NearTao beat me to it...

Got it, you all were right. The previous owner had it set to eighth notes and changed the sound to a shaker so I was confused, lol.

I would Reset All Preferences just to be Pro-Active that other settings were adjusted before purchasing

Whats the proper way of resetting the preferences only and without deleting projects and samples?

On the Preferences Screen. It will NOT delete your Projects and Samples. It just Resets any Settings you made, back to default. You're Safe lol
