One compared to X/force

I’ve owned a one before but I’m wondering if using the X is a different experience. I’m not particularly bothered about I/o etc now they can use external interfaces. I’m just kind of looking for a big daddy mpc but the old units are stupidly priced considering I could have an X for that. I’d imagine the whole experience in the X is much more streamlined with the 16 knobs and massive workspace

Started to draw focus on the force too. It seems massively slept on and has a bunch of crazy features. I’m torn between the X and the force really I just added the one because I’ve already got experience with it to compare to. Do we think linear arranger is coming to the X? I got rid of my one because I just found myself uninspired to use it. Also probably because I bought it in hideous gold like a dumbass. There’s an X near me at a good price and I’d hate to go for it and find myself feeling the same as the one. Nobody online talks about the experience of actually using it, just I/o and shit because they run basically the same OS but surely it’s a completely different journey on the X.

sorry if the versus thing has been discussed ad infinitum but I’m not really saying should I get X or Y. Just wondering if someone has used X and one. Want a bit more nuance than ‘get X if you need more inputs’.

The experience will vary minimally I would suspect. The extra knobs would be helpful, but as you've alluded to, it's the same thing under the hood.

The question about 'do you think XXX is coming', is asked a lot and nobody (that isn't a beta tester) can answer that here.

The Force is a really nice piece of kit. It's familiar to mpc, but has many ways of skinning the cat. I was a beta tester for the Force and being able to test out all the features that were released recently, really showed me what a capable and different beast it is.

I had the mpc one and moved to the force, and felt at the time that the Force gave me everything I was missing from the one.

I would say get a Force and try it out, see if the familiarity and the new functionality, as well as the workflow fit with your needs. If it does, excellent. If it doesn't, the cost of force has remained steady so I suspect you won't lose out on much, so you can sell and get the x

I’ve got the MPC X for the myriad of extra buttons, etc. on the main panel, which helps minimize screen menu diving. I also got it because of the 16 Q-Link knobs (instead of 4 on all other units [Live/Live 2/One]), each with its own OLED display above it which lets you know the knob’s current functionality/value. For an old addled brain like mine, seeing their functionality in real time is a major help.
