- Split your bass sound into bass top and pure sine
- Cut the top at around 120-180Hz HP and let the sine do the bass
- The top can be pretty much anything, fat and wide stereo etc.
- The key you're playing in factors a lot. With the sine bass, you can go really down (D is fun af)
- you can compress and splishsplash the top with all kinds of saturation and whatnot, but let the sine bass flow through as-is
- Don't let other instruments come down into the bass frequencies where the sine bass is playing, that would be instant mud
- A good, fast kick compliments the bassline, sidechain if needed
As stated in the comments above, TubeSynth is excellent for bass sound, if you don't want to do the sine bass split. TS can push out some really heavy bass.
