Hi Hat Velocity Editing

Is there away to edit the velocity of the hi hats automatically without having to edit every midi event manually ?

So basically I want every other hi hat velocity to be at 50% as opposed to all events hitting at 100%

FULL LEVEL is also HALF LEVEL. (double tap or rapid tap until it goes red heh)

Quickest way to half your velocity on your drums while recording.

Record in using 16 levels for the pad. Then play top right pad for full velocity and another pad for a lower velocity. So alternate between them as you play the notes in.

There doesn’t seem to be an automatic way to change velocity for 16th note patterns. If you are recording 1/8 notes, you can do a workaround where you use the step sequencer’s presets for note velocity, which gets you part way there.

Well, one simple, fast way is to go to program and add another layer of the same hihat, set it to half the velocity (level? Can't remember if velocity can be set per layer)


And then set it to cycle..

No automation needed and it will play every other hit at half the velocity or level no matter how you play the pattern..

Benefits, it's fast and easy.. And you can just hold the pad down and it will do it automatically.

A downside is that you can't use that same pad to have a static, unaltered it every time you hit the pad as it will cycle whatever you've set it up to do..

Usually I just make copies of such pads I want to cycle hits with, to get around that.

I keep a MPD32 with black MPCSTUFF fat pads around just for this purpose. My MPC LIVE is pretty sensitive [4/5], my MPD32 is less[2/5] sensitive.
