I’ve been trying to use my MPC Live to interface with an MPE enabled setup, and I’ve *almost* got it working.

I’ve set up a Linnstrument outputting 4 note MPE sending each note on a separate channel to channels 1-4. In my MPC I have made 4 MIDI tracks and 4 MIDI programs to receive each of those four channels separately from the Linnstrument, and send them separately to 4 different channels on a Kodamo EssenceFM performance patch appropriately setup to use these channels as an MPE stream. With all 4 MPC MIDI tracks armed and monitoring this setup appears to work as desired when playing the Linnstrument live through the MPC: each note is able to perform individual pitchbend, aftertouch, modulation, etc.

However, when I attempt to record a performance by recording on all 4 MIDI tracks simultaneously, it seems like the MIDI parameters (pitchbend, modulation, aftertouch, etc) are only being recorded for the “selected” MIDI track, and it’s only note on-off messages which are being recorded on the other 3 MIDI tracks. The full performance information is still being routed correctly through to the synth while playing it live, but the recorded MIDI tracks are missing 3/4 of the performance data.

Am I missing a setting somewhere which will allow the non selected tracks to see the MIDI performance information which is clearly coming though the device, or is this a bug/limitation of the MPC multi MIDI capabilities?

MPE, no.
