Shift timing on each midi channel

Does anybody know how to move each channels timing without moving the notes on the touch screen?

You can't do that.

Well that sucks .my old rs7000 could do it .

You can achieve this by using one of the many delay plugins. Wont effect the midi of course but it will delay the Audio output of whatever synth, program or Keygroup you are using.

Well, this is called a MPC, not a RS7000. You'd better get a RS7000 if you want one.

You cannot change the midi timing, but you can delay the timing of the drum samples with the offset parameter.

Well isn't it about time they implemented it .you know it makes perfect sense .how many would like this feature?

It doesn't matter, no MPC ever did that. It's up to AKAI you need to take your requests, not here. Nobody works for AKAI here.

Naw really though.. it's sucky when you find that performance wall in the mpc... sometimes it just wont do something you're well used to on a different device or software. The MPC has made me rethink my hardware layout and my production style repeatedly because of its quirks but I love the damn box.

Id say just use the plugins. Unless you are trying to record the shifted midi it accomplishes the same thing sonically.

If you need the actual midi shifted for whatever reason, use the copy events function and you can select all events and adjust by ticks if desired. Then copy to another track(or the same if you prefer). This is the most likely the option you probably want to use.

You can also use the arp and play with those settings for real time shifting.

You could also duplicate the midi track and then highlight all notes in grid mode and nudge the notes in the new track.

If you are trying to shift notes backwards copying events or nudging is the way to go, though you cant shift past tick 0 of course.

If you want to do it the painful way, use list edit and you can select each individual midi event and nudge its timing. You can do this visually in grid edit as well.


In my experience the MPC can do a bunch of things that don't seem glaringly obvious and it usually has 10 workarounds for accomplishing something. Instead of running into the wall and stopping, you have try to find a way over or around it. You'll be amazed at what it can really do when you get familiar with all its intricacies and really start thinking outside of the box.

The big thing that make workarounds in the MPC not such a pita is that everything happens at lightning speed, so really the limitation in time is only as fast as your fingers can move.
