Do any of you find souls know the way to trigger a screenshot on the MPC?

In the configuration file there is an option for "screenshot directory". I dont know how to get it to work though. I tried CTRL+ALT+PRINTSCREEN from a keyboard but no such luck.

MPC-Tutor wrote:No one knows the combo, I've tried all sorts and even asked Akai a couple of times with no response. I either use an MPC Touch as it's just an extra screen on your computer, or mainly now via SSH (kikgen along with ffmeg and the sc.sh script from Mockba's tool kit)

Thanks man, i figured i may have to do it via ssh. mockba already made a script and ffmpeg eh? perfect! Saves me breaking my brains dumping vram and converting pixel formats and crap. That's super annoying akai wouldnt even reply to you about it.. whats the harm?

Only way I know how to do it on a PC is to Print Screen then Paste it in Paint. Crop it. Then save as a Picture File. Kind of extensive tho lol.

If this is what you guys are talkin bout?

naw what i meant was the stand alone unit shows references to being able to dump a screenshot, but nobody knows the buttons to trigger it lol.

Weird, I thought I replied to this yesterday..

You said you used ctrl+alt along with printscreen, but not all systems require ctrl+alt.. My computer at work for example, it is enough to hit printscreen to take a snapshot that can be pasted..

Could it be as simple as using ctrl+alt messed it up, and it could have worked just using printscreen?

Also, this function existed on at least one older mpc, and then you had to go to some menu where you could set things up so that I think the undo button would take a screenshot..

Like in this youtube clip:

Maybe there's a hidden or not so hidden function in some menu somewhere in these newer models.

I've been at this for a few years now with various other people also investigating we think we've tried every possible button combo or keyboard option, it's probably just an inactive setting, perhaps something for the future. However with the SSH option it's not really a problem, and it's even possible to record video, although the results are apparently a little unpredictable.

Is the SSH screenshot method in the MPC Bible? Just curious how we can do this.

You'd need some kind of custom ssh enabled firmware and mockbas tools installed on it by the sounds of it fellas.

No way I'd put something like that in the MPC Bible, you have to install a modified firmware and feel comfortable with terminal, potential for permanently bricking your MPC etc . Here's the main resources:

Ah ok, I'll pass then. Have zero desire to install modified firmware no matter how bad I want screenshots. Thanks though!

It can only behoove Akai to allow us to capture screens and live video for tutorials and so on. If they were smart they'd ship the features/utilities for this with the product. At the very least, letting screencaps get captured to storage for retrieval later seems like a no-brainer.

AKAI should def make this an official feature.
There should be a DCIM folder created on the SD card & photos are default saved there

Simple but powerful
