Hi folks,

When i'm producing a track, i'll often say something to myself like: "right, now i want a clap with $hit-loads of reverb on it.

What would be cool would be to be able to audition samples from the browser with effects on them. So i mean i might scroll through a hundred different clap sounds, already with a big reverb effect on them, until i find the sound i want.

Is there any way to do this?

In fact the perfect way would be if you could browse samples direct from program edit > samples > sample field to try other sounds. Then you could have effects and even envelopes on the samples as you audition them.

In fact i've never seen this feature in any sampler, hardware or plugin, have always thought it would be super cool.

It would give you the ability to try swapping out different samples for a sample that's already in your track and processed, i think it would open up a lot of creative avenues.

A simple example is say you're already deep into making a track, but then you wonder, perhaps a different kick would be better. You should be easily able to scroll through a load of different kicks until you hit on that magic one.

It would also lead to happy accidents: what happens if i swap out that cowbell sample for a conga?

Super whack workaround lol. Send the audition to outputs 3+4 in the preferences. Connect physical cables from outputs 3+4 into the inputs, and monitor the audio in with your fx of choice. Otherwise, I don't think it's possible.

Thanks man,

Yeah, i thought about that but i'm using those in/outs for other things, changing 'round cables would kill the workflow / vibe.

AKAI needs to let us browse samples from within the project editor and also give us an extra channel called "audition" on the channel mixer page, to put FX over the audition chain.
