What's Good Everyone, I'm brand new here, but a friend of mine told me the MPC community is one of the best, so I'm hoping I might get some info on this!!
Quick intro, I'm a long-time production guy, close to 50, rocked nothing but analog back in the day, used a grip of Akai gear during that time too, including going back and forth between a MPC 2000 and early Macbooks with Logic - 4 different times in fact (XL as well), while rocking 2 24/8 consoles, DAT, etc., until technology / interfaces / macs could do it all.
Been in that world since 2000 or so, but have found myself getting rather uninspired from it all as of late, and when the Touch came out, I was interested, but Logic was far superior, software-wise.
The MPC One really got my attention though - loved the layout and size, but then with more research, I started to feel like the Live or Live II might be the move, and still might, but I go heavy on researching potential buys, hence landing here!!
I wasn't entirely sold though, after a friend of mine grabbed one and I jumped in for a little session - the menus / workflow had me feeling like quite a bit of time would be lost, but after seeing the latest firmware release a minute back, that's when my interest really started to take flight - but when thinking about the Live or Live II, there's something about the Live and NOT having the slight bit more bells and whistles, that I actually prefer - something about the speaker / balance of the layout throws me off a little - and that's just one more component that could go bad / more weight / less battery time / etc.
One bit of info I found though, was Tinez's vid on the Live's screen performance being noticeably subpar to the Live II, but I'm not entirely sure if that is / was hardware or software related, and was curious if anyone on here knows if the 2.10 update actually resolved those issues on the Live, and if purchased, and updated to 2.10, will perform identically to the Live II.
K - that's it - any other info anyone wants to share too / thoughts / suggestions - I'm all ears!!
Which of the 3 would you suggest, and why?
