2 day old MPC One - Q-Link encoders all over the shop

Fuming.

Very first thing was update to 2.10. Everything goes great. Starts working through MPC Bible then decided to go off-piste....

Sampled a bit of audio over a 2 bar loop with 2 more pads assigned to kick and OHH so nothing taxing at all.

Starts playing around with FX on the sample track and the Q-Link controls are going nuts irrespective of which plugin I'm using.

Example 1: set top Q link parameter to 50% then retouch encoder again will set it to zero.

Example 2: Rotate encoder will cycle infinitely through values.

Example 3: Rotating an encoder in one direction will do nothing at all (say in the mid-position), but rotating in the opposite direction will.

Known issue or a lemon?

This was a major financial purchase for me, I'm gutted.....

Yes I have seen reports of flakey Q-link activity on the MPC One. Do you have a USB hub connected? If so, try disconnecting that (and any other peripherals). Also try a preferences reset. Also after that, try holding down the Qlink button and disabling 'SHOW Q-LINK STATUS WHEN TOUCHED'.

Make some tests powering MPC from a powerbank. It solves my qlink issues.
Akai using some cheap electronic inside so it catch any dirty power.

Temporarily, i.e. when on battery power? Would that suggest some kind of ground problem with your studio electrical wiring?

Interesting. Had another 19v 3.42a supply kicking around, rebooted it and Q-Link is now working flawlessly. Not sure if it's a bad supply or the reboot that's settles it down so I'll test it a few times......

Maybe related but I'm also finding that if I have a gooseneck USB light plugged in, system bootup time is greatly increased as well. Obviously I have put the USB light down as a bad job

I wonder if in the long run a medical grade power supply would be better?

Yes, I have no grounding in home. But I'm just looking at it from a logical point of view. Since the computer works fine and the audio equipment works fine, cameras, screens, lights etc, MPC should work as well. If it does not work as it should, the power section on motherboard is not properly insulated.

After purchasing a powerbank, this problem no longer occurs. The normal tactile knob problems remain, such as not registering touch or movement for first time, but it's not as bothersome as resetting the sample start or changing pad type in program edit (cannot be undone).

Mine does example 1 and 3 occasionally
