How accurate is your Warp mode and MIDI in your devices ?

Having my MPC One for almost a year now, very happy with overall sound quality, efx, plugins, and general workflow is fine for me, but never managed to get a nice behavior from it in regards of WARP mode for loops (no matter if i try to warp a loop made internally or from a Library, or even perfectly arranged in a DAW before to load it), the behavior is erratic and unstable. I've heard Warp is not the strong point on these kind of machines ? Also tested the Force for a while and experienced the same matter, so i assume is this something from the OS and resources ?

Of course i don't expect something so raw as the Octatrack (which btw solves this warp issues really nice) but i thought it was something solved on a nowadays hardware sampler...

Same as with the MIDI sync, trying to sync with other gear (Elektron, Novation Circuit, Roland grooveboxes, etc) if i try to set MPC as master the clock is not accurated, when using as slave is a bit better but still not 100% accurated. Using i.e. Elektron with Roland or Novation, its master clock is totally sharp, if you check the screen, you see the clock has small oscillations (2 decimals) but to the hearing department, that's not even noticeable and you can run a live set with no fear that the devices will jump out of grid. That's not happening with the MPC One... (I recall something similar happened lately with a Toraiz SP16 i used to have, just after their last OS update, they left the machine unusable, this is why i sold it and pick the MPC One)...

Just sharing my five cents here and trying to see if that also happened to another user.

The WARP is good if you compare it to older MPCs/machines
It sucks if you compare it to ableton/FLOOPS on a modern PC

You can definitely change a drum clip +/- 10BPM to line up with another clip.
There are only 2 warp options & the machine make u use 1 of these 2 for all your warping.


The MIDI sync has pretty tight for me; check your settings.
MIDI lag is unacceptable in an MPC if you ask me

MIDI seems pretty tight here. I sync the MPC to my DAW over ethernet when I track my finished projects and even if I have to do multiple passes, never had to line a single track up yet.
Finally started trying to 'integrate' the two last week, had Cubase clocking the MPC and left the drum breaks on the MPC, no problems staying in sync with my basslines or anything else coming out of Cubase either.

thanks for your replies! MIDI when MPC is slave to my computer (Logic Pro) is accurate. The big issue in my case is with other hardware, using it dawless...

as for the warp mode, it sucks for me. i had Octatrack in the past and it worked super stable when warping, here there is in the most of cases lot of artifacts, kicks are not falling on time, and using loops is almost an impossible task. that happened also with the Force (Akai lent me one for some weeks to make a review and it did not work well on the warp department)...

don't trust your eyes when syncing
the most import are your ears like you already stated

when i sync my DAW to my MPC4k (which is supposed to be rock steady solid), the tempo display jumps around too

what if you warp your loops the old way? (offline)

I've just started using the Warp to Pitch Shift and Timestretch on the fly. After Turn Warp on, I make sure I Lock in the Project Tempo, Use the Percentage to Time Stretch it(Not Too Much tho, bcz the Algorithm is a lil grainy if you push it)
But if i Tweak the "Semi" Pitch, I get some nice Pitch Shifting Results while the Warp is on
