If only usb to audio in standalone

I know you can use a audio interface which from reading only works on select few.. my interface MOTU 828es doesn't work so I refuse to another one... anyway controller mode in a daw also is cumbersome you can't tap temp so sampling it out of the question for chopping.. I wish they can find a way to have usb over midi or ethernet to pass 16 stereo/ 32 mono I know hopes and dreams..

I vaguely remember someone else here stating their motu didn't work doing the same thing your trying.

iConnectivity soundcards can do that without any issues, up to 18ch only tho. But no direct USB still - that sucks, should be easy to implement with MPC ASIO already running onboard.
