Hi

Is it possible to use live II as an external instrument in ableton live? I don’t really like using the MPC plugin and controller mode. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Use the Akai Network MIDI app and use the virtual MIDI ports in Ableton with the 'Remote' MIDI in/out on the MPC over ethernet/wifi. I don't know how well wifi works but my ethernet adapter on my Live is plugged straight into my Mac mini and the two work great. I can play tracks on the MPC using Cubase/Live and vice versa.

Have a great weekend

Once you get it installed just remember there are two virtual ports that will show up. Im on my work computer right now so cant switch over to the Mac to check, but one will be labelled something like AKAI MIDI DAW, this one I have no idea what its for, but I have a feeling that has something to do with the Live Control mode. The other port, will be a regular old virtual MIDI port just like any other. You're stuck with 16 channels but you should be able to setup tracks in either the MPC or Ableton, set it to that port and the right channel and be able to trigger tracks between the two.
