MPC One - Audio Track issues

Hi, I'm having quite a lot of bad luck when it comes to recording MIDI on my MPC. I am using a Roland DS 88 keyboard. I am still quite new to music production and I wanted to use midi and then record that midi onto an audio track on the MPC. I did all the steps and managed to get the midi recording with the sound I wanted from my synth. I then went to the Audio track then recorded on that, using the record button instead of over dub. I then removed my midi keyboard, and all the cables and no sound was coming from my audio track I laid down. Please can someone help me figure this out.

I also had a question. When or if I get this working, how would I go about recording other sounds from that same keyboard. Because if I just change the sound on the next track after the one I record, the whole thing changes! Just hoping someone could clear this up for me.

But in short, you can't record midi to an audio track. An audio track will record audio fed into its inputs.
A midi track will record midi notes, which can be sent to a virtual instrument/vst or back out of the MPC to trigger your external keyboard.

Okay cool I understand that but, I've watched many videos on this and what people do if they are recording external synths is that they record the sound midi first, and then record what they have input with the sound they are using into the audio track. I'm just very confused, and I definitely will look into the MPC Bible.

There is no such thing as "sound MIDI".
MIDI message are just a bunch of information that some gear can interpret to generate the sound.

If you record your sound from your synth on a audio track you should see the wave in the view.
If there is no wave in your audio track, then the MIDI you recorded made your synth play, but you didn't record that audio into the One.
So when you clear the MIDI track, the synth wont play any sound anymore.

If there is a wave in your audio track then you should look at the monitoring parameter in the left panel of that audio track.

I don't know that keyboard but it seams to be a quite capable gear, you have 16 parts and 128 polyphony voices, it means that it could maybe play at once up to 16 track of recorded MIDI from your MPC, each one playing a different patch (sound, instrument) on separated MIDI channel. I would personally look into the manual to know how to set that up, and I would record audio from all the sequence at once to save some memory...

To maybe prevent confusion from the things shown in the video. He is doing three things in this video:
1 - he records the midi information from the micro freak -> midi is a 7bit message basically sending a key pressed event (Note On), which note, the velocity and a stop bit. If you let go of the key then another 7bit midi message is sent telling telling the Midi gear to shop emitting a sound (Note Off, Note, Velocity, stop bit) ... there are other midi messages and ControlChange data but midi is NOT SOUND. It is just a control instruction. What the receiver then does with it is their choice basically.
2 - He changes the midi data to some extent
3 - records the audio from the micro freak that it produces when the previously recorded midi data is sent to it.
