Hi again,

Further to my other thread about MPC Live I vs One, I'm asking now for advice about support from Akai if I purchase a new MPC overseas. I am travelling to Japan later in the week and I have noticed that new units are much cheaper there than here in Australia. Therefore, I thought it might be nice to get one while I'm there.

Does anyone have any experience with Akai's support of units when things going wrong with units purchased outside of their country of residence? I can save myself around $150-$200 USD buying it this way.

Thanks!

Here's their warranty, page 4 is the relevant page:

So if you buy in Japan, you should be covered under their non-US warranty. There doesn't seem to be any requirement to purchase the unit specifically from your country of residence, nor any requirement to obtain support from the country of purchase.

It’s small enough that if you don’t keep the box/packaging you can tell them you brought it with you on your initial trip. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Governments make enough money as is. Have it be in your carry-on bag like a laptop normally is.

Not saying you should break the law, just saying

An MPC X, on the other hand, too big to sneak on a plane without declaring.

Did you ever go through with us?, what was it like getting it to change the language from Japanese to english? Well an English / USA from where work with a Japanese unit?
