Use MPC One as synth/sampler with PC DAW?

I totally adore MPC One's synth, sampling, sound processing and controller capabilities. The only thing which I find limiting is the rigid pattern system. Is there a way to use MPC One purely as synth/sampler/controller/audio IO with a third party DAW like Cubase?
So far the only idea I came up with is to use the MIDI DIN connector, but then it will play only one track armed for recording. Question is: is there a way to play multiple tracks/programs, each on its respective channel, simultaneously?

I understand this will make one track receive all MIDI channels, but this is not what I want. I want track 1 to receive e.g. channel 1, track 2 channel 2 etc., so that every track from DAW can be routed to its own track in MPC One.

Yes, set the MIDI input port and Channel number(1-16, instead of "All") on the same screen, then set MIDI monitor setting to MERGE / IN. (MERGE or IN is a setting to receive MIDI even when not in the record-arm.)

yeah, elijah's got it right. you may also need to pop into the settings menu click the midi tab and enable sync, master, and control for the connection. this cant really be done in stand alone mode through usb, you need a usb to midi din cable to make it happen. plug the usb side into the pc, and the din connectors into the mpc, keep the mpc in stand alone and route your mpc's audio into your mixer or soundcard. I've never had any success with it through usb it never establishes any kinda midi connection under the midi settings menu to my daws.

Thanks all for your help, here's my working solution.
1. Get the simplest MIDISport 2x2 and 1 MIDI cable, plug USB into your computer with DAW, and MIDI cable from MIDISport out to MPC in.
2. Menu - gear icon - MIDI/SYNC: set "Remote" input to "Track"

3. Sequence - tracks - set your ports and channels as needed, and monitor to MERGE


Now each of your MPC tracks will receive the MIDI notes from your DAW on PC on separate channels, and your MPC becomes a multi program mega synth, sampler and audio processing unit for your DAW.

can you play the same Note (C3) on different midi-channels AT THE SAME TIME or The notes cancel eachother out? a lot other threads say: MPC is beause of that not multitimbral.
