on ableton there is the schok function which allows you to configure the pads so that pad 2 is cut off when I play pad 3 for example. I think it's also possible with the mpc but I can't find where I can configure this function

Program Edit you can either set the Program Polyphony to Mono...

Or You can use Mute Groups....Set Pads A02 and A03 to the same Mute Group (1)

^ What he said. If you set the whole program to mono, every pad will cut every other pad off. If you want to do something like hi hats, just use the mute groups and only those pads assigned to that mute group will cut each other off.
