As an OpenLabs Miko owner, this is pretty dope. I think this is what OpenLabs had in mind back in the day. But...
At least the Miko had faders. I think the MPC Key 61 is a great product, and I hope Akai sells a lot of them, but I think they would have sold a lot more if they had equipped it with 8 faders and 8 Q links.
I'd have taken an 88-key with faders and eight encoders. Keybed would need to be decent though, and the MPK keybeds are dire.
Third-gen 88-note MPK controller with a decent keybed styled just like this with faders and and more encoders? Instant purchase. I don't need standalone functionality when I've got a high-end computer, an RME RayDat, a stack of convertors, and Expert Sleepers modules for ADAT to control voltage for my eurorack.
I think that's the part that Akai missed
