Use it all the time it’s brilliant makes keygroups out of most things, I’ve converted loads of soundfonts,
in fact I’m gonna use it today to make drum programs filled with 128 synth one shots, so when it’s loaded you can go through and easily audition them and now easily convert to keygroup or just use 16 levels.

I have used it to convert a few SFZ instruments. Worked like a charm. Everything sounded exactly the same after converting.

Extremely useful, especially after having to deal with Akai's own conversion tools which lose all the envelope information. You f*ckin' rule, Moss :worthy:

Thank you so much for making this. After converting a handful of GM soundfonts, my keygroup library just blew up with almost 400 new keygroups! This couldn't have come at a better time for me as I'm coping with the sub-par performance of 2.11 and not wanting to buy any of the new synth plug-ins until Akai brings more stability. I can focus on keygroups in meantime

What conversion tools does Akai have?? I've used Translator before to convert old Akai cd's to akp programs but those almost always lose envelope and filter data if they have any.. Wonder if Akai licensed something from Chicken Systems like others have in the past heh.

2.11 cured the .AKP import . It had never worked since v1.0.0.0.0.0
Haven’t tried importing .Pgm yet though. But as the release notes say legacy import fixed that maybe good too.

Call me paranoid, but I think Akai/InMusic might be more interested in selling new expansions than in providing a decent tool for converting legacy samples from old Akai formats...

Which sucks, btw, since some of those samples are still awesome these days, and their size is ridiculous for today's RAM standards.

IMO the legacy mpc importer is good enough, it’s had some tweaks over the years and they’ve just fixed the latest bugs in it so I think it’s fine for loading old projects as a starting point for a re-imagined version.

I would not expect much more from this feature, if you need more I think realistically you should be looking at separate specialist third party software.

Ahh ok so just the regular old 'open an AKP in the browser' thing? Those things never got any of their settings correctly translated over hah. I always have to go in and open up the envelopes and set the filters again. I'll have to check it out when they finally fix 2.11 and I can re-update haha.
