best filtering options for synth key sample program

how do people filter key sample based programs

I was messing with the F9 piano instrument program , which is cool but wanted to start filtering it.

obviously the program is made of of lots of keygroups and multi samples - and would be a chore to use the sample filtering on multiple key-groups /sample --- so i used a filter FX insert on the program channel

is that the best way around it when using multi key group/ sample programs fro instruments

In program edit, just set 'KEYGROUP:All' at the top of the page and then make your adjustments in the filter env screen, it will affect all the keygroups equally.

if you want real dynamic, polyphonic filtering , setting your envelope and\or lfo just use the keygroup filter as Tutor said, but remember, you can only automate ONE keygroup filter at a time, you can not set it to ALL and automate... so if you need automation and dont want to mess on a per voice basis automation, you better put the Air filter as insert FX and automate cutoff and resonance from there.
