MIDI CC Question.

I'm using an MPC Live. Is it possible to change pads by CC? I have a roland vdrum kit with a fd-8 hi-hat foot controller. When using the foot pedal with the Roland TD-9 module, the down position gives you a closed hi-hat sound, the middle, half sound, and released gives you the open sound.
I'm trying to figure out how to get open, half and closed samples to work with the position of the pedal.

I don't think that's possible with an MPC, unless you use a dedicated controller pedal that sends different MIDI note events for each position...

Use a single hi-hat pad that has 3 layers of samples (each for the respective sound).
Standard layer switching is by velocity, but you‘ll probably want to use that for loudness.
But you may be able to assign the CC of the pedal to layer switching...

Maybe you could use an open hi-hat sound, and have the midi cc control the decay. Use the AHDSR and set the hold time to the minimum time you want the closed hat to sound. It won’t sound super realistic, but may respond the way you want it to.
