So i have had this issue also, and believe it or not, the solution is very simple.
The MPC-One was originally packaged in a box with a 12 V DC and 1 A power plug.
(I'm not sure if this is true in all cases, on all continents, or in all countries.))

So you would never think that's the issue. But it is, actually. As far as I know, MPC One's circuitry
is very much based on its older brother, MPC Live, which is equipped with a built-in battery.
The software cannot allow installation while your only source of power is not reliable enough.
(If your MPC turned off while the installation was in progress, it would simply kill it.)
I think the installer is measuring the voltage of the power supply just before the update starts.
(Easy way to detect if its a 12VDC battery pack in MPC Live)
And what I think it is is that: the software is also similar in both cases, but the programmers forgot to take this variable out of the MPC one's updater (thanx AKAI --- mpc one has no battery !!! :worthy: )
If you look inside the specification document for the MPC one, you will find in the power tab :
---- >>>> Via power adapter: 19 V, 3.42 A, center-positive, included
Simply put, you must find a power adapter capable of 19 VDC and, most importantly, a center positive !
Plug it in and enjoy your fresh software.
I hope anyone can find this useful. I have also seen many different approaches to "unplugging everything," "special USB cables," and "all sorts of magic."
