Bizarre: changing drum program alters drum pattern

OK, this is f*cking wierd and challenges everything I thought I knew about the MPC. When I change a drum program on a track - the pattern changes,

First picture below is the pattern on the only track in my sequence. If I change to a different drum program - not a different track, not a different sequence - the drum pattern changes to the second.





Note that the drums are changed around. The pattern that had been on A03 is moved to A06; A01 and A02 are swapped, etc.

What on earth could cause this?

MPC Live 2.11.6.

Might it be that the midi mapping in two programs is different? Like one using the legacy MPC one and the other one using chromatic one?

Different midi mapping on the pads. Newer kits use chromatic c1 (36, 37, 38 etc) while older kits use legacy mapping (37, 36, 42, 82 etc).

Thank you guys. Yes, that's what it was. The visible change in the pattern threw me off. I have corrected the rogue kit.
