Anyone miss having

1) a way of monitoring maximum system polyphony
2) a way of prioritising midi events within that polyphony

Seem to remember the 4000 was able to do both of these things

since my MPC One has been dropping random notes in drum programs when I sequence them externally from Hapax . . . i would certainly like to know the maximum polyphony

Yes, I was reminded of this old feature during random dropouts in a sequence recently. By muting tracks I was able to identify it was a polyphony issue - but once upon an MPC of old it was possible to assign priority to tracks or programs so less critical parts would be jettisoned first…

If this rumoured XL merged everything the X has with everything the 4K and JJOS had there might be no need for future MPCs… one can dream

Akai don't appear to have much interest in incorporating proven features from previous MPCs. Also be careful what you wish for, the more features they implement (or half-implement), the more new bugs they introduce.
