New user. Scrolling through instruments

I'm new to the mpc x. Is there any way to hear an instrument or drum kit with a new pattern without loading into the keygroup program? I feel it to be very limiting to not hear my instrument or drum kit with the pattern I have programed. Then having to load it into keygroup program before I can scroll through. Is there any way around this or is it just something I have to get used to?

Turn on the browser > audition > auto button. If a preview is set for a key group, it will play automatically

It's not possible to preview a kit from the browser using the current sequence track in your project. You have to load it so it is assigned to that track. you can always hit undo if you want to quickly delete and purge after previewing.
