I prefer to work in very dim areas (yes weird I know) but the lack of illumination on the MPC was getting to be a bit of a pain. I know my way around most of the buttons off pat now but sometimes I need to see exactly what I am after. So searching around I found a small LED light (marketed for book reading) which was discreet, capable of USB charging, has 3 different colour temps and a tilt/swivel head for getting the light just where you want. It came from the bay (UK).
It took a little thinking in terms of placement but I wanted it away from the screen and my hands so ended up with it on the right side near the top of the Q links. The light comes with a spring clip for sliding onto a book but I just unscrewed the mount, removed the clip, screwed the mount back together and stuck it to the side of the MPC with 3M tape.
Really happy with it, especially with the lowest colour temp option. For anyone else that also likes working with 'mood lighting' it might be an option for you
Since the pic below I added a strip of black insulating tape around the top edge to cut down on unwanted glare. It's fine now but it's really hard to photo without the pic looking like it has a big hotspot. It's much tamer in reality. Sorry can't work out how to embed the pics into the post:
