I picked up a used mpc x for a crazy low price ($750) a couple weeks ago. Everything seems to work great except for one fairly large issue. The screen doesn't always register a touch and sometimes times up to 10 seconds of tapping before it does.

I still ended up purchasing it because I thought I could fix it with a factory reset. That didn't work.

I did read that some people had a similar issue because the demo files where all deleted. Well this unit has all those files deleted and doesn't start up to the demo screen. Im hoping to get the autorun file I've seen many of you talk about but have had zero luck with getting a response from Akai.

Anyone else have this issue? Anyone have the autorun file they could share, :hmmm:

The file(s) is not MPC Forum property, shouldn't be shared here at all.

Get in contact with and get it directly from Akai.

Definitely trying. More so posted here to see if anyone has a similar issue and if y'all thought that could be the cause.

Well that didnt work. Followed the instructions and when it boots up it flashed and upside down screen saying, updating content, and then fails with an error saying "Failed to find the internal content drive".

Going to reformat on a different card and usb. I read somewhere that this happened to someone and akai told them they gave them the wrong file. idk.

Same problem here. They don't know what to do. "Go into service center" they said. Thats what happens when you use cheap programmers instead of qualified specialists

Are you having any other issues other than the missing content? My touch screen is laggy takes up to 5-10 seconds most times for any button press.

I guess i'll call around and see how much its going to be to fix. I'll let you know if I find out

Just wanted to follow up on this. Talked to akau again and mpc stuff. Both think it's a hardware issue. Mpcstuff thinks it's the carrier board which will end up costing $610. That's not counting the shipping to and from.

I thought I was getting deal when I bought this. :vomit:

MPC currently has issues with the MIDI Controller Folder being cranked up with thousands of duplicate files. I deleted this folder, performed a restart and the laggy behaviour and some other bugs where fixed. This also relates to your MPC parameters not being able to be mapped by an external MIDI controller.

That wasn't it. My carrier board needs replaced. $575. Ouch. Right on the heels of an mpc xl coming out? Safe to say I won't be recouping that money when/if I sell it.

I actually bought this thing because it was a great deal, was going to try it out then flip it for an mpc one. Hahha. Instead I'm just going to lose a couple hundred. :Sigh:
