Out of the box thinking.

Trick I used to do with my 1k and 25k

Have for eg. A drum program over 10 tracks on the 1000 2 bar seq

Il send midi from these to a track running the same program on the 25k and hit record while jamming the drum track on the mutes.

Only the unmuted midi is recorded building a full track that requires minimal editing.

Can be done to individual tracks too.


Thought I'd have a go on the X. Couldn't get it to work with internal midi sends but by sending midi out and then back in I was able to achieve the same result.

Mute behaviour can't be set to instant in Prefs

Excuse the crappy loop. Bashed out anything to test the theory.

This works pretty well. i like to play with the track length too while doing this. The only thing is the midi has a 5-10ms delay round trip so you have to adjust what you record back onto the grid.

Not as much of an issue for me being edm/breaks orientated. More on grid than off and quantising pulls it back.

Had an 8 minuite track to rebuild a drum track for last year when the idea occured to me. Would have been tedious on jjos grid edit.
