Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

With the success of Delay Pro, I’m sure that there’s a higher quality reverb coming eventually, maybe it’s Ether or Jura’s reverb as a standalone.

I would like them to make the Echo delay that’s in the Odyssey plug-in a standalone FX. That thing is insane. I didn’t know until recently that it’s an emulation of a famous classic guitar pedal called the Echoplex made by Mike Battle & used by many music legends.

This dude really love this thing. He gave history of it, did a VS with a modern remake that I think is better & may get that, but would preferred if Akai made the Echo it’s own FX, then we could use it on anything even stack them on themselves. He also showed how each sounded when you play with the delay speed slider/knob in real-time, which to me is the best thing about it. You can get it to make sounds that even Delay Pro can’t do. I’ll put a link to a test beat I did with Echo & a sample at the bottom.

My Echo test beat. The delay stuff starts at like 2 mins in. I put the Delay time parameter on the crossfader on the Force, but you could use a Q-link knob or even the slider on the touch screen, which actually works well with this FX - that’s how I was first using it before I switch to the crossfader: https://www.elektronauts.com/t/mpc-thre ... 73139/4565

I hope more people will start wanted the Echo as a plugin & hopefully then Akai will make that happen. Currently I think most users don’t use it or at least I never get the sense that it’s used by many & that could be for many reasons like poor marketing & the fact most MPC heads may not know about the OG & the Odyssey plugin came in with bunch of stuff & it just get lost in the mix. They could even make a Echo Pro for people that’s willing to pay.

If you say so, but I never said it's sounded like the Echoplex, so I don't care about how close it's matches up to the OG. I liked what I was able to do with the FX that's in the device I got.

Can you do what I was doing in the test beat with one of the other simple analog delay FX's in the MPC?
I'm not saying that you can't, I just would like to hear how close you can emulate the unique analog sound characteristics of the Echo FX when you move the Delay Time in real-time like 2m:35 minutes into the test beat?

I tried to emulate it with all the other Delay FX's even Delay Pro set to analog & couldn't make it happen, but hopefully you have more skills than me & you're able to do it, then school me on how to do it? :worthy:

I would like Akai to let’s us route any audio/midi/instruments through the synth engines effects and filters. Just give us an input on all the virtual instruments so we can pass any audio through them. So much they could do with what we have already.

That's a good idea!

In Delay Pro, uncheck "Sync" and all modulations (mod, diffusion, etc.), check the "Analog" button, and select the "Single" mode. Then adjust the delay time to around 300ms.

Adjusting the delay time changes the pitch, which is a very basic implementation. (In Ableton's delay, this mode is called "Repitch" and is the default behavior).

By the way, the chorus effect uses the same principle: a short delay time of about 11 ms is modulated by LFO to make the pitch fluctuate.

Yep. INIT is at the end of the presets list.
Start there, undo everything else while focusing on what Elijah stated.
You’ll get a default no frills analog delay module.

Still testing it out & so far it do the analog delay but it doesn’t do it like Echo...yet.

Test it for yourself:
Make 2 Odyssey tracks, use Echo on 1 & Delay Pro with analog mode on the other (make sure Echo is off on this 1).
Now, play the same synth line riff track while messing with the Delay time on each to hear how different Echo sounds compared the Delay Pro.

Also, play around Echo's parameters until you got something "nice" going on & then try to match that with Delay Pro. I still like Delay Pro for it's own unique sounds & features, like auto-clear, but I really like how Echo does it's thing & would like it as an standalone FX or at least add the opinion to send audio from other tracks to Odyssey's Delay.

Thanks my dude. It's good to know someone shares your understanding. I'll test out the OPx-4 delay when I get a chance, but does it have an analog mode?
