Curious if anyone here has taken their MPC Live (or Live2, or One) to an electronic repair shop to have the input and output channels recapped. I believe the units use really shitty capacitors and can benefit from new ones.

I know. Black lion audio does this service for the X, at a ridiculous price if you ask me. Somebody like Louis Rossman would probably only charge $100-200 for a simple job like that, plus parts. It’s like a 30-45 minute job.

I think with the X they also do some power isolation, so literally just installing a piece of metal to isolate the power transformer.

I’ve been using the mpc live in controller only mode for like a year ever since upgrading converters to the ssl big six.

I still wouldn’t use the converters in the MPC for sampling although their muddyness can sometimes sound pleasing as the transient response of the big six can make certain sounds more “clinical” without transformer saturation.

Hoping to hear from anyone who recapped their live and/or isolated it’s power supply. I haven’t even bothered to open mine up yet to check out the circuit board or parts.

Peace

Do you but I’ll never understand the point of this. Just make music. Tons and tons of dope records are made on these new mpc without any converter upgrades etc.

These samplers are super clean. You get what you put in. There’s no need to worry about sonics when 99% of the people listening won’t know the difference. Dope music is dope regardless of the sonics.
