How to make a midi controlled button play a specific key?

Hello all,

I have a Midimix attached to the MPC Live II and I want to use some of the buttons as pads to play some TubeSynth sounds, i.e I want to press a specific button and have the same behavior as if I was pressing pad D-11.

I couldn't manage to do this via MIDI Learn.

Does anyone knows how to do it?

Find the midi note number assigned to pad d11 of the live. Transmit that note number from the midimix on the channel that tubesynth is assigned.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know where to transmit the note number from the midimix on the channel that tubesynth is assigned. Is it on Midi Learn tab, inside the Midi Control option?

Alrighty then:

You will need to consult with your midimix manual / userguide. The button you push needs to be assigned to a midi function such as controller, note etc. Choose the midi note option. The midi note will either be 0 through 127 or something like d4, c2 etc.

On the live 2 go to the main page of your project. In the track section that uses hypesynth, the midi channel number will be indicated. This is the channel that your midimix needs to transmit.

On the live 2 all 128 midi notes are transmitted & received from the pads. You need to consult your mpc documentation, or use trial and error to find the midi note name / number to be transmitted from your midimix.

You may need to refresh or build basic knowlege of midi in order for this to make sense. Good luck in building production know-how in your journey.

I have all this information, I just don't know what to do to make the connection between the button on the Midimix and the Pad to be used.

The Midi Channel used by TubeSynth is currently CH 1.
Pad D11 will play Note 58.

But when I go to MIDI Control > MIDI Learn, I can't find an option that will make this connection happen properly. I have other functions assigned to knobs and faders and they all work properly, but I can't find where to assign a Button on the MIDI Mix to a Pad on the MPC.

have you... downloaded the akai Midimix Editor software?
that is what you use to edit which note values the buttons will send out.
