InMusic, Akai’s parent company, purchased Moog Music and is reportedly dismantling its US factory and moving everything to Taiwan. It looks like They just laid off half their production force. 
Never been a Moog user but that’s a tough loss. I guess InMusic just wants the name and less concerned about the quality that it used to represent
Not sure what that means for any substantial Akai updates but it might be a minute. I think it says something about the kind of company we are buying products from
