Purge not working?

Search in this forum is pretty hit or miss, since it's got so many damn topics. So apologies if this has been answered a million time.
I'm new to the MPC One (been using a 1000 for a while) and the file management is really perplexing.
I have a live set I've created but each song has an audio stem in the Audio Track and the memory can't hold 9 audio tracks at one time, so I split it into 2 parts. No problem.

But when I save the same set as Part 1 and also Part 2 and then delete the sequences not in that part, and then save, I can see it re-saving all the same stems from all 9 tracks. What do I have to delete or purge in order to save just what I need for each project? And where do I do it?

Also, I am using firmware 2.10.

Maybe just go to sample edit and delete the unused samples with the bin icon.
I am not 100% sure if it will also delete the audio tracks there, but you could give it a try..

Audio tracks consist of a sample within a program assigned to a sequencer track. Deleting a sequence changes nothing to the sample and the program. You’ll either have to manually delete the sample or delete the audio program and then purge. Purge only removes samples currently not assigned to a program

@elstebbano Deleting every sample one at a time? I did that last night and it worked, but it's an incredible waste of time if you use lots of samples like I do.

@MPC-Tutor I did try deleting the audio track program first and then purged and the sample remained. I think it may have been that I saved the project before doing this. Does that make sense? So when I go to Sample Edit and scroll through my samples, it still sees the "deleted" sample on the hard drive?

If you saved the sample before than you'll have to go into the project fold that holds the samples & Delete it there by holding Shift then press delete. Also make sure you delete it in the project sample pool before you save the project again. Hope that makes sense

Sometimes it's faster to just save a new Project with the same name to override the old if it has a lot of unwanted samples. Or, do your sample management stuff while in computer mode.

No, in sample edit you can only view samples that you have either actively loaded into memory or have created within the project (e.g. by recording it in the sampler, flatten pad, extracted chop etc).

When you delete a sample it will no longer appear in your project unless you choose to re-load it back via the browser, no exceptions. MPC projects do not direct stream from your storage disks.

Right. I knew it didn't stream from disk but that means that after I deleted it, the sample was still in memory. I think I just have to work out the exact places I have to delete in order for it to actually free up space. (these were basically stems, so I couldn't afford to leave them in memory.) I clearly did something incorrectly though, but these answers are helping me get my head around the correct process, so thanks.

I wish there was bulk delete option instead of doing one at a time.

Been requesting a program-level purge function or improved sample management for six whole ass years now. They ain't interested.
