MPC X Line in / Phono (Inputs 3 / 4)

Hi folks,

Wondering if anyone is able to help. I am attempting to sample audio from a tablet into my MPC X. I currently have a turntable plugged into the larger connectors (TRS?) on the rear in channels 3/4 which have one set of TRS connectors and one set of RCA connectors. I appreciate that i should be only using one set of these connectors (apparently both cant be used at the same time). The turntable (connected via TRS cables) is powered off but have left the cables connected. When I try to use the RCA connectors when connecting my tablet so that I can sample it, I get no sound with the switch set to 'Line In', however when I change the switch to 'phono' i get audio from the tablet but very loud (have turned down the tablet volume). Im not terribly technical and dont really understand what makes a Line In a Line in and a Phono In a phono In, but I was under the impression a tablet or digital device would more likely be a Line device? YouTube is amazing for breaking down stuff like this & so is the manual.

The phone ins is for your turntables the line ins is for everything thing else...kinda.

Thank you guys, I had been looking at the quickstart sheet rather than the manual which I now see says that the switch is literally to determine which physical input youre using . Lampdog thank you also - so I guess I purchased the wrong cable and need TRS connectors. Thanks again!
