i use step sequencers but seeing just one bar at a time is a pain in the butt for me. Either way I think it's a great utility for getting parts input. I watched the entire video and subscribed. I like his methodical approach. It's very interesting to see how different people approach the same tools differently. Thanks for sharing.

Almost stopped watching when he made the false claim in a the first couple of minutes that "sequence means repetition" but thought I'd continue and see if he can persuade me that the MPC step sequencer isn't just clunky and a pain to work with. Unfortunately nothing in the video managed to persuade me of that either...

BUT I have recently bought and been playing with an Oxi One and thoroughly enjoying it! A grid of 128 is a bit more fun and useful than a grid of 16 for step sequencing!

I got what he meant by repetition, not the best word, but English isn't his first language so I was able to fill in the blanks. I didn't know you can use it for writing automation as quickly as he doing with the touch screen. But this is coming from some that doesn't use the step-sequencer. Funny thing is, I came away thinking its not as clunky as I first thought base on my limited use of it.
I guess one persons deadly mold is some else's hidden gold.
Overall IMO he did a great job breaking down what the step-seq is for those that don't know.

I wish the List-Editor could filter by a single pad/note then we could use that as a super-step-seq but that has way more data to mess with & more bars in view at once. That would be cool-cool!

He's right in the tradition music theory meaning, but with the twist that a sequence is a pattern of notes which repeat but are transposed, not repeated exactly the same over and over.

I made a feature request for an oxi like grid in the mpc stepsequencer.

There’s still no way in the step sequencer to quickly put in a chord, correct? I mean it can be done if you go a separate step sequence screen for each note of the chord, but that’s way too tedious for my taste.

The step sequencer needs an overhaul, a polyphonic, multiple playhead(individual direction, speed..) similar to Fugue Machine on iPad
