I was looking for a way to purge unwanted programs but could only find this post:

viewtopic.php?p=1739670

and nothing was revealed from searching in the voluminous MPC Bible. Surely, the ways mentioned in the post can't be the way to do this, my Z8 from 20 years ago does it easily, can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks.

There is no 'purge program' function, do you mean something that will delete any program not currently assigned to a track? You should open a ticket with Akai and suggest it to them as it's definitely a missing feature IMO. But ATM, you have to manually delete unwanted programs and then hit purge to remove any unassigned samples.

It hasn’t changed, that old thread is correct. That’s all you get, there’s no “purge program” button. It’s not in the manual because there is none.

I suggest you go tell AKAI directly, since they didn't get the memo.

Best thing to do is load or create a program then delete it if/when you replace it or aren't using it.
It keeps the Project clean and lean as well as keeping the mixer clean.

I've sorely missed the feature, especially when trying to arrange live sets, but I see no reason why you should be able to load a bunch of programs before starting tracking as they seem interesting then automatically purge those you haven't actually used once you've got something down. The benefit in load and save time is often just as useful as the saving in RAM usage!

Lampdog says it's never existed on the MPC, I'm not sure of this, maybe it was never in AkaiOS but it most certainly was there on JJOS of my 2500 and used frequently!

Those are not my exact words.
JJOS is not an official OS. Better than the official.
The thread is about X, Live and Keys.
