MPC X - Active sense - MIDI Monitor

Friends, I've plugged my Yamaha P-115 via USB into my MPC X to control internal sounds. However, the MPC X active sense Midi Monitor is going WILD when it's plugged in even when I defeat Local Control per the Yamaha'd Midi Reference guide here https://tw.yamaha.com/files/download/ot ... _mr_a0.pdf

In another thread it was noted that having Active Sense light up like this isn't good. Can anyone help me understand what's required to stop this from happening? TIA!

Active Sensing is a midi system realtime message and usually cannot be turned off.
(see bottom of page 5 of the Midi Specs Manual)
It’s sent 5 times per second and can in fact be the source of trouble, in particular with a lot of CC control data.
But it‘s not related to Local Control on/off.

Best option is to filter it out on the MPC‘s midi input (check for midi filter) or by a device plugged in between the piano and the MPC that does it in hardware.

If it's not specifically causing problems, you shouldn't worry about it. It's designed to not be sent if your controller is busy sending other data, such as notes, controllers, whatever. It's really the redheaded stepchild of the MIDI spec, nobody uses it much and it doesn't solve any problems, but if it is causing you grief, then a MIDI filter is the way to go.
