For what sort of patches is Fabric XL worth its RAM use ?

Often I save RAM by sticking to plain Fabric, but recently I used the "Full Choir Ooh" patch and, listening closely to a quiet part of the song where the choir dominates, I was not satisfied with the sound. I switched to Fabric XL and I believe it was perceptibly better - to my liking. Am I victim of placebo effect ?

What is your experience ? For what sort of patches and purposes is Fabric XL worth its RAM use over Fabric ?
