MPC ONE+ Blank Screen

Hi,
Got an MPC One Plus from auction, but unfortunately, non-working unit.
As soon as I turn it on, the pad lights go on, followed by all control lights. The screen is blank, however, a backlight is on. It stays like that, tap tempo button flashing. Also, I can see a red LED flashing inside the machine, two short times.
Any ideas on what should I try?

almost certain the flexible cable for the screen is damaged, and/or the connector.
@7:07 on the below video, you see the gold colored flex cable that goes from the carrier board to the screen. the interface on the screen is VERRRRYYYYYY fragile and if you break that interface, the backlight will light up, but nothing on the screen.

maybe the previous owner opened up the case to mod it? does the unit have any mods on it? look at the screws on the underside of the unit -- do they look as if they have been turned with a screwdriver?

Was there any resolution for this problem?
