"FORMAT DRIVE" is greyed out. How to fix this?

Hi,
I just got a used MPC LIVE II with a 1TB SSD installed. For a fresh start I would like to format both the internal drive and the SSD. When I select a drive and press SHIFT all the touch buttons appear in the lower part of the screen, but FORMAT DRIVE is greyed out. Has anyone experienced this/knows why this is and most importantly can help on how to get it to be not greyed out so I can format the drives?

I know another user has had this problem too, but then posted it worked again. And I know too I can also format it from my computer but I would like to get it to work the way it should.

most probably your drive is not factory initialized meaning there is no partitions or volumes on it.
akai won't let you deal with partitions and you will have to do it in your computer.

And better not touch the internal drive. Many users have posted about trouble when meddling with it. Be careful!

Internal drives cannot be formatted in standalone mode. SSD drive need to be formatted from a PC/Mac in controller mode.
