Working on the same project on both standalone and desktop

I know working on a standalone project in controller mode is discussed in the bible, but is it ok to work on a project on just the desktop software without the “controller” attached, in my case an MPC Live? It would be handy to be able to work on projects when I don’t have my MPC Live with me.

If for example:

• I save my project on the Live in standalone mode on the SD card (as normal)
• Power off the MPC, eject and copy the SD card to my MacBook, making a backup at the same time cause why not.
• Open the project file on my MacBook in the MPC software, accept the warning about the audio device being different.
• Work on the project, using just keyboard and mouse, Perhaps work on some arrangements on tracks.
• Save my project on the MacBook
• Copy that project file and folder back to the SD card, replacing the existing project file and folder.
• Put SD card back in the MPC.
• Power it up and open the project.

Is it likely to cause any headaches?

I suppose it would be easy enough to make a copy of the project and just have a go.

Yes it's fine to do this as long as you respect the differences between the two environments, for example, you'll have more memory available in the software, no plugin instance limitations, vst plugin support etc.

Exactly

Respect the differences, indeed. Audio tracks also comes to mind.
