Beginner Bought A Used MPC One

This is not about where I should go to learn how to use the MPC One. I'm aware of the MPC Bible and have watched a number of YouTube videos. I am willing to put in the next weeks and months to learn how to make music with this thing.

What I need help with right now is that I've bought this unit used, and while this is in good physical condition, I am very confused and not sure about what content (samples, sounds, presets, plug ins, instruments etc) are supposed to be included if I were to buy a brand new MPC One instead of a used one.

I have read that unlike say a Roland MC-101, where you cannot delete samples and instruments/tones by accident as they are stored in memory that users can't touch, a person can actually delete content that came original with the MPC One. This makes me wonder what I have now on my used MPC One has everything that I am supposed to have.

What I've done so far after getting the unit today was I've successfully installed the latest firmware update to 2.14.0 from 2.7.1. The Control Surface was also updated from v0.09 to v0.10. I've registered the unit on InMusic acount and downloaded F9 expansion and installed it on an SD card and now see it in the MPC One browser.

Before I concentrate the rest of my time on learning how to use this unit, I want to ensure my unit is at same starting point as anyone buying this unit new from a default available content perspective.

I know I am perhaps asking for a lot of hand holding but I really cannot find any information on this from searching the net.

There is no reset option to put your MPC back to the original factory state. In most cases the only thing you need to do when buying a used MPC is update to the latest firmware and then go to PREFERENCES > RESET PREFERENCES to return all user preferences back to default values. This way you would be starting your MPC from the same starting point as new (albeit with a much newer firmware). Now log into your inMusic account in Preferences > Activations and download all your free synths. Enjoy.

The restoration file mentioned above is used in cases when the previous owner decided to delete all the factory content off the internal drive. in all likelihood your MPC One still contains all the original factory content, most people don't touch this. This is simply two folders located within the 'Expansions' folder on the 'internal' drive:

'Demos' - a collection of project demos and templates, as seen as loading options on the main boot up screen
'MPC One' - a bunch of kits and sequences etc.

You might see content from the previous owner within folders such as 'MPC Document's. You can delete stuff like old project files if you really need to but that restoration file does nothing to these folders anyway, it just restores the above factory kits and demos. If they are there (very likely), then don't sweat it, enjoy your new MPC.

If they aren't there, then you're not missing much, and you can download all that content from within your inMusic account, although you won't be able to copy it to the internal disk.
